In younger days, as a journalist, the front page was the holy grail motivating all hungry scribes.
Everyone was after a ‘splash’.
That was the days before 24 hour news, online.
In today’s perennial fight for eyeballs, and with public relations so important for companies and organisations seeking a foothold in this frenetic and crowded media space, the link’s the thing.
What’s a front page without a link? Ephemera on printed paper.
The link is the traffic king, taxi-ing you, fast to call-to-action station. Alighting there, conversion is excitedly possible. Its power is measured in hard (very useful) data.
None of this I have any issue with at all, of course.
But what about those old front pages?
Well, there’s something about them (still).
It’s a bit like a physical book when your eyes are gritty and your head beats from squinting at Kindle’s phone App on the train.
Last week, Heartland Media and PR achieved 2 front pages for clients in just a few days.
Don’t worry. They came with links.
